Dear NAMP Members, We are pleased to announce the upcoming election into various positions within the Nigerian Association of Medical Physicists’ (NAMP) during our 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is a crucial event in our organization’s calendar, and we invite all eligible members to participate actively in the electoral process. Date: November 8, 2023 (During the AGM) Location: Calabar (Conference Venue) Election Positions: N.B: Only candidates present during the AGM will qualify to be voted for. Eligibility to Vote: All full NAMP members in good standing are eligible to vote and be voted for. Associate and Student members are not eligible to vote and be voted for. Please ensure your membership is up-to-date to participate in this important democratic process. Expression of Interest: Members interested in any elective position should download and fill the ‘expression of interest’ form from NAMP’s (namp.ng) The eligibility clause of the offices can be found on section 5.1.1 of the NAMP constitution. Deadline for submission of ‘expression of interest’ form is 11:59 pm (WAT) November 1, 2023. List of Candidates: List of accredited candidates and their respective offices will be displayed on the Association’s WhatsApp platform on November 7, 2023. List of Eligible Voters: All eligible voters and their emails will be displayed on the Association’s WhatsApp platform on November 4, 2023. Complaints and reconciliations will be entertained and the final list will be posted on November 7, 2023. Voting Procedure: Voting shall be via electronic means and the duration shall not be more than one hour. Eligible voters not physically present can thus participate. Announcement of Result: Collation of result and announcement of election outcome shall take place within two hours from the end of election. Winners shall be declared based on a simple majority. Supplementary Election: In the event of a tie, a supplementary election will be scheduled the following day (November 9, 2023) for the affected office(s) Bye-Election: Should election fail to hold for any particular office for some inescapable reasons, the new executives will call for a bye-election election within one month from their inauguration. Other Related Matters: Should a candidate step down or anticipate inability to attend the AGM or other unforeseen events, any other interested member can submit their expedited ‘expression of interest’ in their place not later than November 7, 2023. Aggrieved Candidates: Should a candidate be unsatisfied with the outcome of the election, he/she should register his grievance(s) with NAMP board within two days of the announcement of result. The board’s decisions shall be final and binding. Your active participation in the election is vital for the continued success and growth of NAMP. After graduating residency in 1999, he started working as faculty in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UF where his major clinical specialties were stereotactic radiation therapy, patient immobilization, and image guidance. From 2006 to 2013, he worked in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic Florida as faculty. In Mayo Clinic, his major specialties were high dose rate brachytherapy, respiratory motion management, and image guided stereotactic body radiation therapy. Currently, he is a professor and serves the Director of Clinical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA. His society activities include AAPM Task Group 104, AAPM Asian Oceanic Affairs Subcommittee, AAPM Online Learning Services Subcommittee, AAPM Treatment Delivery Subcommittee, AAPM Work Group on IMRT, AAPM Therapy Physics Committee, AAPM Exchange Scientist Program Subcommittee, AAPM Subcommittee on Practice Guidelines, KAMPiNA president, IMPCB By-Laws Committee, IMPCB board at large, IMPCB Accreditation Subcommittee III, IMPCB Examination Setting Subcommittee, and IOMP Publication Committee. He has served as editorial board for 4 different journals and reviewer for about 35 different scientific journals. His publication includes about 80 and 180 peer reviewed articles and abstracts, respectively. He also published 1 AAPM report, 14 book chapters, and 1 edited book. GLOBAL MEDICAL PHYSICS CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE
This course is designed for practicing medical physicists in Nigeria. The weekly 6 months course was developed following needs assessment conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Medical Physicists and the international council of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. This course will provide continuous education for practicing medical physicists. It is co-organized by the Education Global Medical Physics Education and Training Committee (GMPETC) of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and the Nigerian Association of Physicists in Medicine (NAMP).
