We are the administrating body for Medical Physicists in Nigeria.

Welcome to the official website of the Nigerian Association of Medical Physicists. We are the administrating body for Medical Physicists in Nigeria. Our Members are involved Radiotherapy, Radiodiagnosis, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Protection and Education.

Medical Physics is the profession which applies Physics principles to the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Medical Physicists are highly qualified health professionals, with advanced postgraduate university degree (Masters or Doctorate) and specialized clinical training in Radiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiation Protection. Medical Physicists form part of comprehensive medical teams in radiation medicine.

The purpose of the NAMP shall be

  • To promote the application of the methods and concepts of physics in medicine, biology, industry, teaching and research.
  • To encourage professional interest in training and safety in medical physics and related fields.
  • To prepare and disseminate technical information in medical physics and related fields.
  • To promote cooperation in scientific research, development and education within the field of medical physics and related fields.
  • To promote scientific exchanges on medical physics and related fields of science.
  • To recommend standards for education, training and accreditation programmes within the fields of medical physics and related fields.
  • To encourage scholarships and exchange of scientific information within appropriate fields.

Our Members are mainly involved in Radiotherapy, Radiodiagnosis, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Protection and Academia.
