The grandparenting route requires a minimum of 6 years of professional experience to ensure substantial expertise in the field.
Yes, you can apply for certification in Radiation Oncology if you have relevant experience, regardless of your current field of practice. You must provide documentation of your previous experience in Radiation Oncology as part of your application.
The grandparenting route typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in the field. However, the NCCB will consider candidates with less than 6 years of experience in Radiation Oncology if they hold full certification from IMPCB, ABR, ACPSEM, or EFOMP, subject to a safe-to-practice interview.
There is no specified time limit for completing the certification information. However, it is recommended to complete your application within the enrollment period announced by the board to ensure timely processing. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so early submission is advantageous.
HCPC is a registration and NCCB does not consider it to be an alternative certification.
Physicists with 2 years experience or more can apply but will have to write an exam before proceeding to the oral interview. This is however on a case by case consideration. Contact the Board for more information.
Transcripts are required as they provide a detailed record of your educational background and confirm that the necessary didactic courses for certification have been completed. If you are unable to obtain your transcripts, contact the certification board for guidance on acceptable alternatives.
Obtaining certification will not invalidate the current practice of submitting a certificate of membership for license renewal. Certification is intended to complement existing qualifications and provide additional professional recognition.
ALEX logins are typically reserved for candidates eligible for certification.
You must meet the overall experience criteria and demonstrate competence in relevant areas of medical physics. This will be assessed through the evidence portfolio you upload to ALEX.
