Topic: Metallic Implants in MRI: Safety, Image Quality, and Clinical Translation in Cardiac Devices
Speaker: Oluyemi B. Aboyewa, MS
Oluyemi Aboyewa began his medical physics career in Nigeria, where he volunteered on clinical projects before pursuing a Master’s degree at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. There, he conducted MRI safety research in patients with retained epicardial wires following cardiac surgery. He is currently a PhD candidate at Northwestern University, focusing on the development of MRI pulse sequences for pediatric and adult patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices. His work includes the design of wideband sequences and accelerated cardiac imaging methods tailored to this challenging patient population.
